A balancing act in the undergrowth: Verspieltes Wildschwein by Susanne Kraisser
With “Verspieltes Wildschwein”, Susanne Kraißer turns to an animal that, as a forest dweller and as a power animal, stands for wildness, freedom and curiosity. Instead of showing it in a classic attacking or resting pose, Kraißer captures a moment of childlike playfulness: compact and taut, the animal balances on a tree stump, its weight concentrated, its bearing alert and inwardly tensed – a moment between concentration and high spirits, just as it appears in young wild animals within the group.
As a small-format silver sculpture, the motif brings this playfulness into a handy yet weighty form: 1 kg of pure fine silver, dense and tangible, with the characteristic, slightly rough surface quality that distinguishes Kraißer’s work.
