A heart hidden in silver: “Secret” by Susanne Kraißer
Slender, standing tall with her gaze lowered, the figure of “Secret” has a pared-down, almost gaunt physicality of the kind that is characteristic of Susanne Kraißer’s work. The deliberately rough, scarred surface contrasts with the clear, upright posture and gives the sculpture that blend of vulnerability and quiet dignity which distinguishes Kraißer’s figurative oeuvre.
The figure’s real secret reveals itself only at second glance: in her left hand she holds a small silver heart – hidden behind her back, withheld from the viewer’s eye. This quiet, intimate moment gives the sculpture its title and makes it more than a mere nude study: it speaks of something held back, a feeling that is deliberately not shown openly but protected and kept to oneself.
Cast in 2020 as a silver cast from 2.5 kg of pure fine silver and standing 35 cm tall, “Secret” is one of the larger and more expressive single figures in the Kraißer programme at BullionArt. Each of the 18 signed and numbered pieces combines pared-down figurative sculpture with a moving narrative detail.
Please note: the silver price is subject to market fluctuations; the final sale price depends on the prevailing price of fine silver and will be quoted on request.
