The angular sister: Jana 2 by Werner Pfändler
Where “Jana” tapers slender and smooth towards the top, “Jana 2” appears more compact, more angular and more block-like: a rectangular head with two round, dark eye recesses sits on an equally boxy body. The clear, geometric reduction to simple block forms and the enigmatic, totem-like character are almost reminiscent of a small work by Max Ernst – figures that shift between archaic being and surreal cipher.
As the smaller, angular sister of the slender “Jana”, “Jana 2” also stays true to her basic principle: reduced to the essentials, always to be approached from the front, with no discernible reverse. Worked from around 2.5 kg of fine silver and limited to an edition of 30 numbered pieces, the figure can be collected on its own or presented together with “Jana” as a contrasting pair of slender and block-like forms.
Please note: the price of silver is subject to market fluctuations; the final sale price is based on the prevailing fine silver price and will be quoted on request.
