The calm before waking: Schlafvogel II by Mogambo Guru
Head drawn in, “Schlafvogel II” rests entirely within itself – a moment of perfect stillness, cast in silver. The bird form is reduced to a few powerfully flowing lines: a compact, stocky body, a softly curving neck laid back over the spine, and a tapering beak that is the only element to emerge from the darkly patinated surface in polished, brightly gleaming silver. From every angle the sculpture unfolds new silhouettes – from the closed, shell-like curve of the view from behind to the alert little eye that comes to the fore in profile.
The work is part of the Mogambo Guru series at BullionArt and follows on directly from the historic “Schlafvogel” with which BullionArt made its debut at the very first precious metals fair in 2005 – back then one of three sculptures that laid the foundation for the idea of “art instead of bullion bars”. Now, marking 20 years of BullionArt, “Schlafvogel II” has been created as an independent reinterpretation of that original motif: the same calm underlying idea, newly cast as a solid cast in pure fine silver.
With a height of approx. 16 cm and a weight of 3.8 kg of fine silver, the “Schlafvogel II” is compact in its dimensions but substantial in its presence – an eye-catcher for a display cabinet, a desk or a collection, combining the craft of sculpture with the material value of fine silver. Each of the 30 numbered pieces bears the edition mark and is a distinctive piece in its own right within the limited series.
Please note: the silver price is subject to market fluctuations; the final sale price depends on the prevailing price of fine silver and will be quoted on request.
