Paar – two bodies, one silhouette
A male and a female torso stand back to back – the curves of the body emerge from the narrow silver panel as mere suggestions. Matthias Eder plays here with the tension between form and non-form, between a recognisable object and its dissolution into abstraction.
The two figures seem to grow out of a shared stone base without ever fully detaching from one another. This fusion of duality and unity is what gives the sculpture its particular appeal: one recognises the human body, and yet it remains surface, line, pure form.
The work is a fine silver cast (999), created in 2007, hand-signed and produced in an edition of 10 examples. The sculpture rests on a black granite base.
Please note: the silver price is subject to market fluctuations; the final sale price depends on the prevailing price of fine silver and is provided on request.
